IN MOST CASES BURGLARS WILL OPT FOR THE SOFTEST TARGET. THE SECRET TO PROTECTING YOUR FAMILY AND POSSESSIONS IS TO PUT AS MANY DETERRENTS IN PLACE AS POSSIBLE.

High perimeter fencing, outdoor lighting, dogs, burglar guards & an alarm system with visible signage all act as deterrents.
Install a burglar gate between your living area & your sleeping area to protect you & your family in case a burglar does gain entry.
If you have dogs, keep a big dog outside as a deterrent & a small dog inside as an early warning.
Train dogs not to take food from strangers.
If all the windows in your home are fully burglar-guarded, consider installing a smoke alarm to avoid being trapped inside in the event of a fire.
Make a show of switching on lights if you hear noises at night.
Whatever you do, do not go looking for the intruder. Lock yourself in your room and be prepared to defend yourself if the intruder comes to you.
